ABOUT GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF SOUTHWESTERN MICHIGAN
Good Finds. Good Earth. Good Futures. That’s Southwestern Michigan Good.
Goodwill is so much more than a thrift store! Since 1956, Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan has been committed to helping people live, work, and thrive. What began in downtown Kalamazoo with a single GED program has grown into a six-county network offering GED classes, Financial Literacy, workplace skills, manufacturing industry training, and more—all designed to empower individuals and strengthen our community.
Our Mission: Improve the community by providing employment, education, training and support services tailored to individual needs.
We focus on:
- Supporting in-demand occupations and workforce development
- Improving quality of life for individuals and families
- Building a strong, resilient Southwestern Michigan community
- Advancing economic development and education
- Helping people obtain meaningful employment
- Guiding individuals to where they want to be in life and their career
Our Impact
Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that invests revenue from:
- 11 retail locations and Michigan’s only Goodwill Boutiques
- 12 attended donation centers
- Online e-commerce through ShopGoodwill
Ninety-two cents of every dollar earned in our retail stores goes directly toward programs and services that benefit our local community. Every purchase, donation, and partnership helps us expand educational programs, workforce training, and supportive services, creating opportunities and empowering individuals across Southwestern Michigan.
Our Philosophy
We believe in Southwestern Michigan Good—a community where individuals have the resources, skills, and support they need to reach their potential. Every program we offer is designed to help people start fresh, grow their careers, and build brighter futures.
Join us in making Southwestern Michigan a stronger, more connected place to live, work, and thrive.
