OUR MISSION
Creating Opportunity. Strengthening Community. Building Futures.
At Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan, our mission is simple and powerful:
Improve the community by providing employment, education, training, and support services tailored to individual needs.
For nearly 70 years, we have been helping people across Southwestern Michigan build brighter futures through meaningful work, education, and community support.
How We Create Impact

EMPLOYMENT
We help individuals overcome barriers and connect with meaningful job opportunities that lead to independence and stability.

Education
From GED programs to adult learning opportunities, we empower people with the knowledge needed to move forward.

Skills Training
Our workforce training programs help individuals build skills that align with in-demand careers across our region.

Support Services
Our navigators connect individuals with essential community resources—from housing and food assistance to legal and family services.
Committed to Southwestern Michigan Since 1956
As an independent member of the international Goodwill network, we have proudly served Southwestern Michigan since 1956, beginning in downtown Kalamazoo with adult education programs that helped individuals earn their GED and pursue new opportunities.
Today, our programs support individuals across six counties, helping people overcome barriers, gain employment, and improve their quality of life.

More Than a Thrift Store
Goodwill is a nonprofit first and foremost. Donations from our community fuel the programs that make our mission possible.
When you donate and shop, you help create:
Good Finds – Affordable treasures and second chances for donated items.
Good Earth – Reducing waste and keeping more than 100 tons out of landfills each year.
Good Futures – Funding programs that help people gain skills, education, and employment.
Together We Create Southwestern Michigan Good
Whether you shop, donate, partner, or work with Goodwill, you help people with disabilities and other barriers to employment build confidence, gain independence, and experience the opportunities life can offer.
Thank you for being part of the good in Goodwill.
